Licensing requirements: A licence is required to use assisted reproductive techniques (in vitro fertilisation; insemination using donated sperm cells; Art. 8 para. 1 let. a RMA). A licence is also required by any person who receives reproductive cells, impregnated ova or embryos developed in vitro for preservation, or arranges the supply of donated sperm cells without personally using assisted reproductive techniques (Art. 8 para. 1 let. b RMA). No licence is required for insemination using a partner’s sperm cells (Art. 8 para. 3 RMA). ● PID (preimplantation diagnosis): Genetic testing of a cell removed from an IVF embryo for genetic mutations or chromosomal disorders. A distinction is made between PGD and PGS.
